The Kanienkehaka Teachings program consists of a series of workshops on Kanienkehaka (Mohawk) culture. Discovering the meaning of the traditions of one of the indigenous peoples will reduce the cultural distance of the participants and promote the process of reconciliation. Among other things, this will involve promoting analysis and critical thinking, essential tools for communicating well in a climate of respect and tolerance.
If you would like to do these workshops in your school or in your organization, you can contact us by email info@paalmtl.org ou par téléphone au 514 657 3340.
The Kanienkehaka teachings to better understand us project developed from April 2019 to March 2020. It created a non-formal education program (outside of school hours) that can be taught in community organizations in Montreal and Quebec. The Mohawk Traditional Council is our partner in developing the content of activities and facilitating workshops. The project was funded by Heritage Canada and it allowed over 250 children and 60 adults to learn more about Kanienkehaka culture. Here are some lessons they shared with us.
We need your support in order to accomplish our mission of educating and sensitizing the members of different Montreal communities, and to raise awareness about cultural diversity with hopes to put an end to racism.
